Bio

Stuart Driver has tertiary qualifications in Emergency Management (Civil Care and Security) and extensive experience in policing. Having worked in Estate and Probate Law locally he is also well known for his interest in Community affairs and has a strong interest and lived experience in the areas of guardianship and mental health.

Elected in 2020 to the board of the NSW Justices Association Stuart is well known for his work supporting and assisting Justices of the Peace throughout the central west and regional NSW. He established the JP Desk in Bathurst, greatly improving community access to JP.s locally.  He is working to expand this model into other regional towns.

Mr Driver is running as an independent candidate after being number four on Graeme Hanger’s Ticket in 2017.

“I was comfortable with my decision to run as part of a group in 2017 but obviously disappointed with the position I was ultimately offered in that group, a decision that resulted in only the lead candidate being elected, notwithstanding the group attracting 20 per cent of the primary vote,” he said.

Mr Driver has had a strong interest in the progress, development and welfare of the Bathurst Community since moving here and sees the need for better outcomes for our heritage and a balance with development, “If it is going to be kept, it must be functional, used and especially not neglected” Stuart said.

Mr Driver’s policy platform includes a stronger more recognised youth council that gives our young adults a stronger voice in the community, better traffic management outcomes, better pedestrian safety in our CBD and better water security, to name a few.  ‘It is about listening, considering, consulting, working with fellow councillors and then setting sound policies and actions to make a Better Bathurst,” Mr Driver said.
