Mr Pearson is a former Sydneysider where he worked as a police prosecutor, school senior master and Manager NSW State & Regional Development attracting businesses to the State. He then went on to become Director of Deloitte Consulting, focussing on Business and Economic Development. He is making his first run at a council position at this election, as the lead candidate of a five-person ticket.
The team describe themselves as pro-business, and pro-tourism -particularly cultural tourism which Mr Pearson feels can work in tandem with sports tourism.
He was behind the inaugural Festival of the Bells in May, which drew over 2,000 attendees.
“This council, I think, is marking time while the LGA’s around us have more progressive councils than we have here in Bathurst,” Mr Pearson told BEC.
“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to set the course properly and to change the direction.”
Mr Pearson’s ticket includes architect Ingrid Pearson, Regional chaplain Richard Hurford, U3A chair Irene Hancock, and teacher and sheep breeder Diana Stewart.
